Together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.
As we honor our Students of the Month, we always ask if any of them still have their dictionaries we gave them back when they were in 3rd grade, and many of them still do!  We delivered dictionaries to all of the elementary schools in SAD 17.  This year, there are 220 students who will receive a dictionary. This is a project that all club members enjoy participating in by handing them out directly to the students and talking to them about Rotary and the dictionaries. One thing the kids always like to find is the longest word in the English language! A few years ago, we named the Dictionary Project in honor of Mary Lou Burns, a long time teacher and administrator in SAD 17 and a Rotarian for many years who was instrumental in starting this project. Since we started donating dictionaries back in 2004, to date we have given out 5,864!
Monthly Themes | Rotary District 5960

OH Rotary welcomes its newest member, Tiffany Leahy.  She works at the Paris Town Office as the Parks & Recreation Director.  Shown L to R: Club President Jeff Noblin, Tiffany and sponsor Liz Knox presenting her with her Rotary pin.  Welcome Tiffany!
From President Jeff: All, due to inclement weather, no Students of the Month, and reluctance on the part of some of the church volunteers to come in, we're going to cancel this morning's meeting 2/11/26. See you next week!
A recent guest speaker, PDG Elias Thomas from the Sanford-Springfield Club shared his history and experiences of Rotary Service Project trips to India to build water dams. He leaves 2/8/26 for his 16th trip along with Rotarians from around the world.  The dams restrain flow of rain waters during the monsoon seasons in catchment basins to help replenish the groundwater and provide irrigation to crops and livestock.  They have been named ‘the Dam Rotarians’!  Invite Elias to come share at your Rotary meeting and learn how our Foundation dollars do good work!
Rotary Club Members, due to pending inclement weather tonight and into tomorrow morning, we are canceling the meeting we have scheduled for tomorrow., 1/7/26. We’ll extend Christmas break one more week and see you back at the church on Wednesday, January 14th, 2026 at 7:30 a.m., where we will welcome our Students of the Month!
Our recent guests were members of the OH Chorale, with Director Dennis Boyd and accompanist Danielle Tran, to sing some of their special Christmas songs and then enjoyed breakfast with us.  The Chorale has been invited to sing at Carnegie Hall this summer, the only high school group invited, very exciting!  A donation was made to help their fundraising efforts.

The Rotary Club of Oxford Hills is pleased to report the Presidential Gavel has been passed from outgoing Club President Beth Abbott to incoming President Jeff Noblin.  Beth stepped up in February when the current Club President Dan Allen, had to resign.  She finished the Rotary year strong, following the International Theme: The Magic of Rotary.  President Jeff is looking forward to leading the club starting July 1 under the International Message:  Unite for Good.  Jeff joined OHRC in 2023, after moving here from West Virginia.  He had been a Rotarian for 20 years and his father was also a Rotarian.  He is the President of MaineHealth Stephens Hospital and lives in South Paris with his wife and 2 teenage daughters.  The Club would like to thank both Dan and Beth for their service, and wishes Jeff good luck leading the Club for the 2025-26 Rotary year.

Snow and cold did not discourage a group of District 7780 Rotarians from 8 clubs who came together to load a shipping container full of mobility devices on Saturday February 1, 2025.  This container for Crutches4Africa is headed to South Africa and was picked up in the wee hours of Sunday morning.
This District has now collected, loaded, and shipped 14 containers full of both used and new mobility devices to countries in need in Africa and beyond. Crutches, walkers, rollators, canes, braces, medical boots & shoes, knee walkers, wheelchairs, and more.  These devices can have a profound impact on the daily lives of people with a variety of conditions, including those with congenital conditions, those who have been injured, the elderly, and polio survivors.
Thanks to all Rotarians, family, and friends who collect items all year long, as well as to those who came to help on Saturday.  We also thank so many in our local communities for continuing to support this project by donation of items you no longer need.  If you have mobility devices you’d like to donate, please contact OH Rotarian Dave Preble at 207-743-7836 or preb@roadrunner.com.  FMI find us on FB.  Top photo: OH Rotarians John Griffith and Dave Preble.

At a recent Club meeting, members attached labels to 240 dictionaries that were then distributed and presented to all 3rd graders at our 8 elementary schools.  It’s always a captive audience and Rotarians enjoy the project as much as the students!  Since we started this project in 2004, we have given out over 5500 dictionaries!

only served as Club President 3 times, but also held the esteemed role of District Governor for Rotary District 7780.
His commitment extends far beyond leadership titles; George's legacy is woven into the countless hours he has devoted
to community projects, from the innovative "Lobsters for Sholars", recording volunteer hours and selling cheese wheels
